Transfer 9: Midland, Texas

September 23 , 2013

Hello!
This is an exciting month!! We are having a baptismal service for Larry and his daughter, Stacy, on Saturday the 28th! Before that, the same Elder Walker who assisted in splitting the Menifee Stake will be visiting us here for a Zone Conference on Wednesday! And, of course, General Conference is around the corner! Just a quick experience this week---We are currently teaching Brittiney, who was never baptized in her youth because her parents became less active in the church. She's 18 years old and adopted from Russia. Last week, she decided to move out of her parent's home after some family arguments. We were super bummed because we wanted them to all come back to church.. The day after we heard she moved out, we got a call from the parents telling us she was back and that she wanted to meet with us. A sense of humility and love was recognized within their family when we visited them. The mom expressed her desire of the gospel to be in her home and how she wanted Brittiney to have the opportunity to be baptized. Sure enough, we are helping her prepare for baptism General Conference weekend! Our members are really catching the wave of missionary work, as well. We are hearing of more and more experiences they are having with sharing the gospel and inviting friends to church. I challenge y'all to do the same! I look forward to your emails and letters each week, keep 'em coming! Make it a great week!

Love,
Elder Rios
